Separate the job into stages
A complete job includes customer authorization, vehicle assessment, identification, reading, calibration, programming and validation. Automated calibration addresses one part of that chain. Plan the time for the whole job, especially when the vehicle is unfamiliar or access requires additional work.
Prepare a trustworthy input
Use the actual original file and a recorded ECU/TCU identity. Check that the file format and reading method are suitable for the software workflow. A repeated filename or a similar vehicle profile cannot establish eligibility. Keep the original outside the folder used for exported results so a later save cannot accidentally overwrite your baseline.
Check support before committing
Stage1Files lists ECU and TCU families in its directory. The application handles eligible files using dedicated platform logic. A family appearing in the directory is a useful screening step, while the exact hardware/software combination still matters. For an uncertain file, ask Support before promising a customer a completion time.
Use automation where it fits
With an eligible input, the software generates Stage 1 calibration automatically. This can shorten repetitive file work and make the sequence easier to repeat across jobs. Keep the result, timestamp and revision connected to the original. MyFiles provides file history in the application; independent workshop backups remain useful.
Keep an exception path
An unsupported strategy, an unusual software identity or a vehicle with unresolved faults needs an explicit decision. Stop, record the reason and ask for appropriate technical review. A manual workflow is useful when it supplies the necessary expertise and evidence. Do not treat manual editing as a way to bypass missing compatibility information.
Measure your own process
Track preparation, calibration and validation time separately. Compare similar jobs instead of attributing the entire workshop duration to the software. The productivity calculator lets you estimate the difference using your own minutes per file. It is a planning exercise, not a measured performance claim or a guaranteed financial return.
